About
A Brighter Way was founded in 2016 by three friends who experienced the challenges of reentry firsthand. From day one, we’ve believed in the power of authentic relationships, partnering with neighbors and allies across Washtenaw County to build a community where everyone belongs.
Every ABW director and our PEERS Navigators have faced the same barriers our members do. “Reentry Through Relationship” isn’t just our tagline, it’s how we walk with each other, sharing hope, wisdom, and resilience. Together, we’re proving that people are defined not by their past, but by their capacity for transformation.

Our Vision
Our vision is to foster a welcoming, stigma-free community that supports and engages all residents, including those who have experienced incarceration.
ABW aims to empower individuals in their journey toward reintegration and to contribute to the broader goals of community enrichment, recidivism reduction, and enhanced public safety.
